The first type of supersonic jet fighter aircraft brought out
by Sh-
enyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC) is fighter aircraft F-6. In
comparison
with other types of aircraft, particularly the quantity of the
output of pr-oduction by SAC and, the number of aircraft in active
service, fighter
aircraft F-6 had for decades always taken the leading records,
resulted
in forming the main attacking strength of China's PLA Air-Force
to saf-
eguard the territorial airspace, in addition to seize the air-domination
along the battle frontier while giving air-support to the ground,
The pr-
oduction was piloted from March in 1958, its initial flight was
successfully conducted on Sept. 23, 1963. After delivery, a number
of improvements
have been made per the requirements by the PLA Air-Force of China,
as
a result, a number of new versions were brought out, mainly known
as
FR-6 for reconnaissance, FT-6 for training, F-6III, F-6A, etc.
